Nixflex uses a bring-your-own-carrier model. You connect your own Telnyx account, so you keep full control of your phone numbers, carrier costs, and billing - Nixflex never marks up your Telnyx usage.
Because you own the Telnyx account, all carrier costs (number rental, call minutes, SMS, recording) are billed directly to you by Telnyx at their standard rates. Nixflex only charges its per-minute voice rate on top.

Why bring your own Telnyx

You own your numbers

Your numbers live in your Telnyx account. If you ever leave, they stay with you.

No marked-up carrier fees

You pay Telnyx directly at their standard rates. Nixflex adds no margin on carrier costs.

Full control

Manage provisioning, geographic permissions, and compliance from your own Telnyx portal.

One number, voice and SMS

The same Telnyx number handles calls and inbound SMS through your Nixflex agent.

The one thing that works differently from Twilio

This is where most setups go wrong, so it is worth understanding before you start. On Twilio, the webhook lives on the number. You import a number and Nixflex points that number’s webhooks at the engine. On Telnyx, the webhook lives on a TeXML Application, and numbers are assigned to that application. Nixflex never creates the application - you create it once in your Telnyx portal, and then every number you assign to it is handled by Nixflex. That is why importing a Telnyx number needs a telnyx_connection_id (the application’s ID) as well as an API key. The upside: create the application once, and adding your tenth or two-hundredth number is just an assignment.

Setup

1

Create a TeXML Application in your Telnyx portal

Set its voice webhook URL to https://api.nixflex.com/telnyx-voice, the method to POST, and the webhook API version to 2.Copy the application’s ID when you are done - that is your telnyx_connection_id.
2

Assign your number to that application

In Numbers, set the number’s voice connection to the TeXML Application you just created.
3

Create an API key

In the portal, create an API key with access to the number. That is your telnyx_api_key.
4

Import the number into Nixflex

Send the number, the API key and the connection ID to Import phone number. Nixflex works out the carrier from the credentials you send - there is no provider field to set.
5

Call the number

Your agent answers. Nothing else to configure.

What Telnyx numbers support

Telnyx numbers do everything Twilio numbers do: inbound and outbound calls, recording in both directions, cold and warm transfer, booking, custom functions, post-call analysis, webhooks, Live Monitor, keypad input, carrier voicemail detection, inbound SMS with auto-reply, sending SMS, SMS campaigns, and SMS delivery receipts. For the full support table see Import phone number. It is kept in one place so it cannot go stale in two.

If the audio sounds wrong

Nixflex streams G711U (PCMU) at 8 kHz, which is what phone networks use. If a call connects but the audio is distorted or silent, check the codec settings on your Telnyx connection: G711U enabled, and HD Voice / G722 disabled. A connection offering only wideband codecs cannot negotiate with the media stream.

What you pay Telnyx directly

These go straight to your Telnyx account - Nixflex never sees or marks them up:
Nixflex downloads each recording and deletes the copy on Telnyx, so you are not charged for storing recordings twice. Telnyx keeps recordings for up to a year if you leave them there; Nixflex holds its copy in EU (Ireland) storage for 90 days. See Data retention.
For Nixflex’s own per-minute pricing, see Pricing.
