# Twilio

> Bring your own Twilio account for phone numbers and carrier connectivity.

Nixflex uses a **bring-your-own-Twilio** model. You connect your own Twilio account, so you keep full control of your phone numbers, carrier costs, and billing - Nixflex never marks up your Twilio usage.

<Note>
  Because you own the Twilio account, all carrier costs (phone number rental, call minutes, SMS messages) are billed directly to you by Twilio at their standard rates. Nixflex only charges its per-minute voice rate on top.
</Note>

## Why bring your own Twilio

<CardGroup cols={2}>

  <Card title="No marked-up carrier fees" icon="dollar-sign">
    You pay Twilio directly at their standard rates. Nixflex does not add a margin on carrier costs.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Full control" icon="sliders">
    Manage number provisioning, geographic permissions, and compliance from your own Twilio console.
  </Card>

  <Card title="One number, voice + SMS" icon="messages">
    The same Twilio number handles both calls and SMS through your Nixflex agent - no separate setup.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

## Connecting Twilio

You provide your Twilio credentials when you import a phone number into Nixflex. Nixflex stores them securely and uses them only to send and receive calls and messages on your behalf. See [Phone numbers](/concepts/phone-numbers) for how to import a number.

## What you pay Twilio directly

These costs go straight to your Twilio account - Nixflex never sees or marks them up:

| Cost                              | Billed by |
| --------------------------------- | --------- |
| Phone number rental               | Twilio    |
| Call minutes (inbound + outbound) | Twilio    |
| SMS messages (inbound + outbound) | Twilio    |

For Nixflex's own per-minute pricing, see [Pricing](/reference/pricing).
